The 4 test-match series between India and England has started from 5th February. The England team completely dominated the home team and won the first test match by 227 runs. The Indian team could not gain enough momentum in the bowling as well as in the batting department. The performances from batsmen like Rohit and Rahane laid the way for the team to lose the match by such a big margin. Although Pant and Pujara tried to chase down a mammoth score of 578 in the first innings, they got out before they could reach the century mark.

Axar Patel to make his Test debut
If the sources are to be believed, Axar Patel has recovered from the injury and has hit the nets ahead of the 2nd test match of the series starting from February 13. He injured himself just before the starting of the 1st test match and Nadeem replaced him in the Playing XI. Nadeem had a decent performance and picked up a total of 4 wickets in the match. The main advantage of Axar Patel is his batting, where he has been in good form and also helped the Delhi Capitals to chase down high totals in the IPL 2020.

Jadeja out of the Test series against England?
The ace all-rounder, Jadeja is set to be ruled out of the England Test series due to the thumb injury he sustained during the 4th test match against Australia in Sydney earlier this year. Before the starting of the series, it was reported that he may make a comeback in the last 2 test matches, but even after going into the NCA, he has not quite recovered. It is quite evident that if he had to play in the last two test matches. he would have to be in quarantine at Ahmedabad to join the squad.
The exclusion of Kuldeep Yadav has also been questioned as he has been part of the Bio-bubble for six months and has just played 5 matches in the IPL and practice games in Australia. Reacting to the question, Virat Kohli said “There are no regrets whatsoever on that decision. Moving forward, we will think of the combinations which bring us variety as a bowling attack, and not one dimensional, turning away from the bat.”
