IND vs ENG Warm-up match: Ahead of the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Team India is all set to lock horns with England in a warm-up match on 18 October at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. Both England and India are placed in different groups in this Super 12 round of the mega event. It will now be really important for both these sides to pick their best combination of players for the all-important T20 World Cup matches.
3 Indian Players to Watch Out For in India vs England Warm-up Match
1. Hardik Pandya
There has been a lot of uncertainty over the fitness of Hardik Pandya in the last couple of years. At the time of the team announcement, the national selection committee led by Chetan Sharma clearly mentioned that the star Indian all-rounder will definitely contribute with the ball in the ICC T20 World Cup. However, Pandya missed the first few matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Phase 2 and then he played the rest of the games as a pure batter.
It will now be interesting to see whether Hardik Pandya plays as an all-rounder in this crucial IND vs ENG warm-up match or not. There is still a big question mark over Hardik being part of the India Playing 11 as a pure batter especially after the inclusion of Shardul Thakur in the 15-member squad.
Name | Matches | Runs | Wickets |
Hardik Pandya | 49 | 484 | 42 |

2. Ravichandran Ashwin
India’s senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin last played white-ball cricket for the national side back in 2017 against West Indies. His selection in the Indian 15-member T20 World Cup squad was surely a big surprise and a major reason was his performance in the Indian Premier League over the last few years. Ashwin is quite an experienced campaigner for India in the T20I format having taken 52 wickets from 46 matches at an economy of 6.96. He was certainly not at his best for Delhi Capitals in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 but will be an important player for India in this T20 World Cup.
Name | Matches | Wickets | Economy |
Ravichandran Ashwin | 46 | 52 | 6.96 |
3. Rahul Chahar
The biggest shocker in the India T20 World Cup squad was the selection of leg-spinner Rahul Chahar over Yuzvendra Chahal. Both the selectors and Indian captain Virat Kohli mentioned that they wanted a leg-spin bowler who is quicker in the air for these UAE conditions and Chahar has performed consistently well for the Mumbai Indians in the last two editions of the IPL. The right-arm leggie will have to be at the top of his game if given a chance in this warm-up match against England. He also bowled well in the last T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Name | Matches | Wickets | Economy |
Rahul Chahar | 70 | 84 | 7.34 |
