The biggest heartbreak for the fans across the globe is that talented batsman Sanju Samson is not part of the India ODI squad for the India vs Australia three-match ODI series at home. The opening ODI game between India and Australia is currently taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Indian team management is currently trying to give every player enough opportunities in order to choose the best playing combination for the ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled to be played at home later this year.
IND vs AUS: Why is Sanju Samson Not Playing Today’s India vs Australia 1st ODI?
Earlier this calendar year, Sanju Samson suffered a knee injury during the first T20I against Sri Lanka at home. He subsequently was not available for selection in the next few limited-overs series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home. However, surprisingly, even after completely recovering from the injury, Samson was not selected in the India ODI squad for the three-match home ODI series against Australia. With Shreyas Iyer getting ruled out of the series due to a back injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) went against naming a replacement while Suryakumar Yadav is playing in the middle-order and KL Rahul is the wicket-keeper batsman in the India playing 11. From 11 ODI matches, Sanju has notched up 330 runs at an amazing average of 66 and has a strike-rate of over 104 that includes a couple of fifties as well.
On the other hand, Sanju Samson will now be seen in action during the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will be captaining the Rajasthan Royals.
