Mitchell Starc IND vs AUS: The big news development coming from the visiting Australian camp is that their premier left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc is still not part of the Australia playing 11 for the second Test match against India being hosted at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Things did not panned out in an ideal manner for the Aussie side as they ended up witnessing a massive innings and 132 runs loss in the opening Test match against India inside three days. Australia are now trailing 0-1 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 four-match Test series so far.
IND vs AUS: Why is Mitchell Starc Not Playing Today’s India vs Australia 2nd Test?
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Australia captain Pat Cummins revealed that left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc has still not recovered from his finger injury that keeps him out of this second Test match against India. Starc suffered a finger injury during the last Test series against South Africa at home. After having missed the opening Test match against India in Nagpur, the 33-year-old left-arm pacer came straight to Delhi from Australia and also did some practice with the red ball ahead of the second Test match. However, Australia have gone ahead with a single pace bowler in captain Pat Cummins alongside three spinners, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy and Matthew Kuhnemann.
“We’ll bat first. The middle looks like there’s grass but bare at both ends. Plenty of turn there, will be a good Test. Cam Green and Mitch Starc aren’t playing, but we’ve got Travis Head coming in for Renshaw, and Matthew Kuhnemann makes his debut,” said Australia captain Pat Cummins during the toss.
