Kuldeep Yadav IND vs AUS: The most surprising news development from the Indian camp is that they are not playing in-form chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav in the first Test match against Australia being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. As seen over the years, both the home and visiting teams have been forced to play as many as three spinners in the playing XI while considering the nature of Indian pitches. However, this Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 Test series is really important for the Indian team as a victory will help them to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship final 2023.
IND vs AUS: Why is Kuldeep Yadav is Not Playing Today’s India vs Australia 1st Test?
During the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that they are going ahead with the combination of three frontline spinners and two fast bowlers. However, the Indian team management have backed Axar Patel as the third spinner alongside Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. This also means that Kuldeep Yadav will once again have to sit out for another Test match. The left-arm wrist spinner will be warming the bench for the second consecutive Test match after he took a brilliant six-wicket haul in the opening Test against Bangladesh on a pretty flat batting wicket. However, Axar also has excellent numbers in his short Test career where the left-arm spinner has picked up as many as 47 wickets from just 9 Tests at an amazing average of less than 15 and he is a handy batsman lower down the order.
“We would have batted too. Looks pretty dry. There will be help for spinners. We got to wait and see how much it does. Yesterday when we started training we did see some seam movement for the pacers up front. We have had a good prep for the last 5-6 days. We trained on the aspects in store. This is a big one. We know the importance of the series but we also understand it’s about winning one session at a time. It’s a long series. Three spinners, two seamers, Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav are debuting,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.

Don't you think that Kuldeep Yadav should have been played in place of Akshar Patel, a different kind of variety is added, the kind of rare turn and low bounce seen in it, this leg spinner proves to be a transfer, what do you think? Is it? #AskStar #starsports @StarSportsIndia

Huge fan of Axar's talent but India should have gone with Kuldeep Yadav instead. Both Jadeja and Axar are similar kinds of spinners and wrist spinners missing in both the teams suggests we might not check the full potential of this pitch.#IndVsAus2023 #kuldeep #CricketTwitter

Kuldeep Yadav would have taken at least 2 wickets by now. Jadeja should not be counted as a bowler, may be just as a part timer like Yuvraj. #INDvsAUS
