The series is evenly poised at this moment with both the teams outperforming each other in a game respectively. The 3rd test will hold a lot of significance as a win for India would ensure that India are retaining their Border-Gavaskar trophy for 2nd time in a row. They regained it in 2017 and since then it hasn’t gone out of India’s hands.
Australia on the other hand will be looking to win the series after a one off defeat in Melbourne in the boxing day test match. Australia will be disappointed to not close out the game in Melbourne as they dropped several catches in the crucial moments of the game which eventually had a massive impact in the end result. They are firm favorites to win the remaining 2 tests.
Rohit Sharma to slot back at the top
India dropped Prithvi Shaw who looked awful in the 1st test and handed over a debut to Shubman Gill in the 2nd game who grabbed the opportunity with both the hands and impressed one and all.
Now, with Rohit Sharma back in the team, the other opener in Mayank Agarwal has to face the axe this time around. Though, Mayank Agarwal didn’t play well in the first 2 games, dropping him without giving a long rope is unfair to Mayank Agarwal to say the least.
The other forced change will be that of Umesh Yadav’s void and in all probability Navdeep Saini might make his test debut in Sydney unless India want to experiment and play T Natarajan as a surprise package.
India predicted XI
Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah.
The beast is back for Australia
Australia will be delighted to have David Warner at the top of the order. David Warner is a colossal in Australian conditions. He has the ability to counter attack and take the game away from the opposition in no time. Australia will also have Will Pucovski replacing Joe Burns as the other opener.
Australia predicted XI
David Warner, Will Pucovski, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Matthew Wade, Cameron Green, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazelwood
