Indian head coach Rahul Dravid stressed on the point that there won’t be any rest provided to the first choice players leading upto the T20 world cup in Australia next month in October. This means that India are expected to name a full strength squad, leaving out the injured ones, against both Australia and South Africa. They will be playing a 3 match T20I series against Australia followed by 3 match T20I series against South Africa. Both the series are happening in India.
IND vs AUS 1st T20I: Will India play Jasprit Bumrah?
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to injuries. India were knocked out in the super 4 stages. India clearly missed their 2 leading T20I pacers in that tournament.
There have been reports that both Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have cleared the fitness tests and are set to be picked for the T20 world cup in Australia but one has to wait and see whether India will play them in the series against Australia or give them some more time and play them in the series against South Africa.
It is also a known fact that Ravindra Jadeja is unavailable for the world cup, India struggled to hit the right balance in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja in the Asia Cup 2022. Axar Patel is likely to get a go as the experiment to play Deepak Hooda at #7 was a disaster from Indian management.
Avesh Khan is expected to find a place in the XI, he was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 in the super 4 stages after being sick.

If India do pick Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel for this series, both the pacers will replace Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Avesh Khan in the playing 11, and that could well be India’s first choice playing 11 for the world cup.
