IND vs AUS 2023: The much anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 is just a few days away from now. India will face Australia in four-match Test series that will begin from 9th February in Nagpur. The second game of the series is slated to take place on 17th February in Delhi followed by third and fourth game scheduled to be played on March 1st and 9th in Dharamshala and Ahmedabad. The series will be extremely important in the context of World Test Championship as it will decide the finalists.
IND vs AUS: BCCI announces Indian squad for the first two Tests against Australia
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (13th January) announced the 17-member squad for the first two Tests against Australia. Rohit Sharma will captain the team with KL Rahul being his deputy.
Ishan Kishan has received his maiden call-up whereas Suryakumar Yadav has also been named in the team for the first two games. Jasprit Bumrah will miss the games due to injury while Ravindra Jadeja’s availability will be subjected to his fitness.
Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer will be the frontline batters in the team along with captain and his vice captain. KS Bharat and Kishan will be the keepers in the team whereas R Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Jadeja will be the all-rounders along with Kuldeep Yadav as the lone spinner in the team.
The fast bowling department will be led by Mohammad Shami and has the likes of Mohammed Siraj Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat.
