Yuzvendra Chahal IND vs AFG: In a crucial news development, India’s star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is not playing this final match of Asia Cup 2022 campaign against Afghanistan scheduled to be hosted at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After having succumbed to poor back-to-back losses at the hands of arch-rivals Pakistan and Sri Lanka, India will definitely want to end their campaign in the competition on a high.
IND vs AFG: Why is Yuzvendra Chahal Not Playing Today’s India vs Afghanistan Match?
India’s new captain KL Rahul revealed at the toss that their premier leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal unfortunately misses out for today’s clash against Afghanistan. Rahul clearly stated that they have decided to rest some of their key players including Chahal, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. In the last match against Sri Lanka, Yuzvendra bowled remarkably well to bring his team back in the game for a while and ended up taking as many as two crucial wickets. However, it is also a fact that the right arm leggie went wicket-less during the first two matches against Pakistan and Hong Kong. The trio of Deepak Chahar, Axar Patel and Dinesh Karthik have made a comeback to the India playing XI.
“We wanted to bat first. We want to challenge ourselves as a batting unit. Rohit wants to take a break, playing back-to-back is not easy in these conditions. Yuzi (Chahal), Rohit and Hardik miss out. Chahar, Karthik and Axar come in. Even coming into this tournament, we had the T20 World Cup in mind. It’s a good learning for us to play such a tournament before the World Cup. We have learnt a few things from the losses. Trying to finalise the roles that each individual will play in the World Cup,” said Indian skipper KL Rahul at the toss.
