Jasprit Bumrah has been the backbone of the Indian bowling lineup across all three formats for a long period of time. The Indian pacer has developed a reputation of being one of the most lethal bowlers in world cricket. The 30-year-old has 363 International wickets to his name, and he will surely add a couple hundred more to his tally in the coming years.
Why is JASPRIT BUmrah not playing India vs Afghanistan series?
Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the T20I series against Afghanistan. The Indian pacer was a part of the Test squad for the South African tour, which concluded earlier this month. The selectors have adopted a policy of resting the 30-year-old to manage his workload across all three formats of the game.
Moreover, India will welcome England for a five-match Test series starting in January, for which they will require Jasprit Bumrah to be fully rested. However, the Indian pacer will certainly be one of the first names on the list for the T20I World Cup to be held in West Indies and the USA in June.
Jasprit Bumrah missed the last edition of the T20I World Cup in Australia, where the Indian pacer was nursing an injury. He has impressive stats in the shortest format of the game, picking up 74 wickets in 62 matches at an average of 19.7.
One of the most impressive aspects of Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling is his ability to curtail runs in any juncture of the game. He bowls at an economy of 6.55 in T20I cricket, which is a pretty rare feat for someone bowling in the death overs.
