IND vs AFG 1st T20I: Why is Ravindra Jadeja not playing India vs Afghanistan T20 series?

Ravindra Jadeja is India’s leading all-rounder across the format. The charismatic all-rounder plays a vital role with his orthodox left-arm spin with the ball and also with vital contributions with the bat lower down the order.
He is going to be a key player for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 as the competition will be played on the slow track of the Caribbean islands. However, he still not is a part of India’s squad for the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan.
The selectors have picked up Axar Patel as the left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder in the Indian team for the T20I series. However, Ravindra Jadeja has not been dropped from the squad. He is India’s all-format player and his workload has been managed with some important fixtures ahead.
Jaddu has been given the much-needed rest ahead of the high-voltage home Test series against England. It will be a five-Test series and it is likely to decide India’s fortunes in the WTC points table. India will be playing at their home, hence, a fit and fresh Ravindra Jadeja will be the key to India’s success.
Furthermore, his absence from the T20I series against Afghanistan will provide India with a chance to test their bench strength against a not-so-strong opposition. If Axar Patel manages to fill Ravindra Jadeja’s shoes on the T20I side, the Men in Blue will have another reliable option ahead of the mega event.
Jadeja has played a total of 66 T20Is so far and managed to score 480 runs at an average of 22.86. Meanwhile, he has scalped 53 wickets at an economy rate of 7.1
