Pathan’s lineup includes some interesting choices, notably picking Ishan Kishan over KS Bharat, despite Kishan not having made his Test debut yet.

Pathan selected Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as his opening pair for the WTC final. In the middle order, he chose Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane. Completing the specialist batting lineup, Pathan included Ishan Kishan.
For the bowling unit, Pathan opted for Ravindra Jadeja, and then a decision between Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur, depending on the conditions. Alongside Jadeja, he selected Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj to round off the bowling attack.

Pathan acknowledged the importance of considering the weather and pitch conditions for the match, specifically mentioning the decision between Ashwin and Thakur, both of whom offer different strengths and experience.
Pathan also highlighted the numbers and first-class career records of both Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat. While Bharat has a better record, scoring 4808 runs in 90 FC games at an average of 37.27, Kishan has amassed 2985 runs in 48 FC games at an average of 38.76. Kishan’s recent impressive performances in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians further bolster his case.
It will be interesting to see if the Indian team management aligns with Pathan’s choices or makes different selections for the highly anticipated WTC final.
