In an unfortunate event, Indian team have lost their first two league matches of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan and New Zealand respectively. The team’s all round performances have not been impressive, and have a large scope of improvement. They played IPL 2021 on the same venues, but its experience have not helped the team either and need a serious thinking on their strategy.
Check Qualification Scenarios for India to reach Semi Finals
With 2 losses in a row, it will be a difficult task for the Indian team to bag the top 2 spots in their Group. The Pakistan and Afghanistan team are in comfortable positions with 3 and 2 wins respectively. If the Pakistan wins their next match, they are through to the next stage, and Afghanistan with a better net run rate needs another win as well. While India have 3 matches yet to play in the T20 World Cup 2021.
India’s next fixtures:
India v Afghanistan – 3 November
India v Scotland – 5 November

Qualification Scenario:
- India needs to win all these three matches by a big margin of runs, as it can be seen that India is languishing at 5th position with a bad net run rate.
- New Zealand team have to lose its fixture against Afghanistan, to keep India in contention in terms of number of wins.

New Zealand too good for India in T20 World Cup 2021
The Indian team have not performed the way would have liked in the tournament. They could post only 110 runs on the board, with the key contribution from Ravindra Jadeja. Then only Jasprit Bumrah scalped 2 wickets, while other bowlers were ineffective and opposition chased down the total under 15 overs easily.
Why Suryakumar Yadav did not play against NZ?
The intent is clearly missing, as the captain has also pointed out and the team needs a breakthrough performances from few of their players to win all the matches.
