ICC Rnakings: IND pacer jumps 12 spots; Kohli remains at top

Indian cricketers benefited immensely from the historic win against Australia at Melbourne in the third Test. Captain Virat Kohli has retained his top spot while Mohammad Shami and Rishabh Pant moved ahead in the rankings. But the biggest gainer was pacer Jasprit Bumrah who leapfrogged 12 places and finished the year at the career-best 16th position.
Bumrah jumps to 16th place
Before the start of the third Test, Bumrah was at 28th place. The pacer bowled a sensational spell in the third Test and finished with nine wickets. He claimed six wickets in the first innings which earned India a lead of 293 runs and effectively sealed the win.

Bumrah now has 708 rating points and is the highest ranked Indian pacer. Mohammad Shami is at number 23 while Ishant Sharma holds the 27th place.
The spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja retained their places in the top ten. Jadeja is at the sixth place while Ashwin is at the eight rank.
Kohli, Pujara retain ranks, Pant moves ahead
Indian captain Virat Kohli scored a fine knock of 83 runs in the first innings but was out for a duck in the second innings. This has cost him three rating points but he sits comfortably at the top with 931 points.

Cheteshwar Pujara who grinded Aussie bowlers to produce his 17th Test hundred has retained his 4th place in the ranking as well.
Rahane is at 19th place while wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has moved 10 places and has reached to 38th place which is his career-best position.
Cummins surges ahead, Rabada at the top

Australia’s player of the Melbourne Test, Pat Cummins has also benefited from his good show in the Melbourne Test. The pacer bowled his heart out and has reached the third place in the bowling rankings.
South African pacer Kagiso Rabada continues to be the highest ranked bowler in the ICC Test bowling rankings.
