I worry about them day-in, day-out: Lehmann opens up about the banned trio

In an emotional interview with Radio FIVEaa, ex-Australian Cricket Coach, Darren Lehmann has opened up about the trio involved in the ball tampering scandal that stunned the cricketing world.

The scandal resulted in harsh sanctions for three players: Steven Smith who was the Captain of the test team then, David Warner and young bowler, Cameron Bancroft.

Darren Lehmann has now opened up on how he worries about the three players. He said, “They are all good young men, I feel for the three players especially, they’re fantastic and I worry about them day-in, day-out.”

Lehmann who resigned after the series against South Africa, added, “I hope they come back and play for Australia because they’re fantastic young men and they’ve paid the price.”

Lehmann concluded by saying that he puts Cricket Australia above everything else and hopes the trio can play again- “For me Australian cricket is the most important thing and hopefully everyone can get back and play the right type of cricket that makes everyone respect the Australian cricket team again.

After an independent investigation, Cricket Australia handed a year long ban to Steven Smith and David Warner while youngster Bancroft was banned for a period  of nine months,  for their role in altering the condition of the ball with a sandpaper.
