Highest partnership in T20 Internationals – T20s as a format requires batters to score quickly and put less emphasis over their wickets, hence it is rare to encounter a big partnership in a T20 game which is usually not the case in ODIs and Tests. However on some occasions when batters face a far less skilled bowling unit or when a batter plays a knock of his lifetime we can encounter a big partnership in T20Is.
Highest partnership in T20 Internationals
Since the advent of T20Is, there have been 25 instances of 150-plus partnerships recorded and out of those only three are above 200. Now let’s take a look at the highest partnerships in T20 Internationals.

1. 236 – Hazratullah Zazai, Usman Ghani
Afghanistan broke a number of T20I records in their second game of the T20I series against Ireland in 2019. Among them was the highest partnership in T20 internationals as Zazai who registered the second highest T20I score in this game, 162* off 62 balls added 236 runs for the first wicket with the support of his partner Usman Ghani who scored 73 runs off 48 balls.
2. 223 – A Finch, D Short
In the thrid game of the tri-series between Australia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe, Aaron Finch hit a 76 ball 172, the highest-ever T20I individual score and the second highest individual score in all T20s only behind C Gayle’s 175. With D’Arcy Short as company at the other end, who scored a sedate 42 ball 46, A Finch put on a partnership of 223 for the first wicket.
3. 200 – G Munsey, K Coetzer:
In this partnership both Munsey and Coetzer combined to register a 200-run partnership against Netherlands in 2019 unlike the first two partnerships where only one batter did the bulk of the scoring. While Coetzer was dismissed on 89, Munsey went on to score his first ever T20I hundred scoring 127 runs from 56 balls.
4. 197 – Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam:
While all the above partnerships came while batting first, this one was registered when Pakistan were chasing a score of 204 against South Africa in 2021. Babar Azam top-scored with 122 runs off 59 balls while M Rizwan provided ample support at the other end scoring 73 runs off 47 balls.

5. 184 – D Conway, G Phillips:
D Conway and G Phillips combined to register the highest ever non-opening partnership in T20I adding 184 runs for the third wicket with Glenn Phillips hitting the fastest ever hundred for New Zealand in T20Is off 46 balls against the West Indies.
