From 2018 to 2021, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain received a staggering INR 17 crore in salary, making him the first player to reach this threshold. In 2022, this amount decreased to INR 15 crore.
2. KL Rahul – INR 17 Crore – Lucknow Super Giants
KL Rahul, who is currently the most expensive player in the Indian Premier League, was selected by the Lucknow Super Giants for a staggering INR 17 crore. Prior to this, Rahul completed four seasons with Punjab Kings and amassed 590+ runs, making him a very desirable possibility prior to the super auction.
3. Chris Morris – INR 16.25 Crore – Rajasthan Royals
The most expensive auction acquisition in IPL history was Chris Morris. The Rajasthan Royals selected the South African all-rounder in the 2021 mini-auction for a staggering INR 16.25 crore, making him one of the highest-paid cricketers in history.
4. Yuvraj Singh – INR 16 Crore – Delhi Daredevils
Morris was the most expensive auction purchase made during this tournament before Yuvraj Singh. Delhi Daredevils made a major effort to secure the player’s services in 2015 and paid a record-breaking INR 16 crore for him.
5. Rohit Sharma – INR 16 Crore – Mumbai Indians
Prior to 2022, Rohit Sharma had guided Mumbai Indians to two IPL championships, thus it was clear that he would soon receive a significant wage raise, which he deservedly deserved. Mumbai Indians increased his pay from INR 15 crore to INR 16 crore for the 2022 season.

Delhi Capitals made the decision to spend a significant amount of money on Rishabh Pant in the hopes that he could guide them to success in the future after seeing him captain the team last season. Rashid Khan was selected by the Gujarat Titans for the 2022 season after leaving the Sunrisers Hyderabad. With 19 wickets and appearances in all 16 games, the Afghanistan leg spinner was instrumental in the team’s victory over India and Hardik Pandya.
