Highest Paid IPL Player – The retention day is done and dusted as the eight existing teams have named their retentions going into the mega auction for IPL 2022. There were some shocking omissions by the franchise as the likes of Rashid Khan, Hardik Pandya, David Warner who were all loyal to their respective franchises have been overlooked by the management.
Highest Paid IPL Player
One of the interesting things is the fact that some big bucket players like Prithvi Shaw agreed to be retained for just 7.5 crores which is very less considering his ceiling as a T20 opener.
Lets take a look at the players who all have been retained for more than 10 crore rupees.
IPL retention – 3 players retained for 16 crores
There are only 3 players retained by their respective management for a whopping amount of 16 crore rupees. Those 3 players are Ravindra Jadeja for CSK, Rohit Sharma for Mumbai Indians and Rishabh Pant for Delhi Capitals.
This came as no surprise to say the least as these 3 players have both face value and add addition to the team either as a captain or swashbuckling middle order option or all round value.

RR retained Sanju Samson and SRH retained Kane Williamson for 14 crore rupees meanwhile RCB retained Virat Kohli for 15 crore rupees ahead of the mega auction. Sanju Samson was impressive with his captaincy in the recently concluded season and managed his resources very well inspite of not having A tier stars who were unavailable due to injury or personal reasons.
Mayank Agarwal, Andre Russell retained ahead of IPL auction
Punjab Kings parted ways with KL Rahul who asked for release and they have decided to retain the next best option in Mayank Agarwal for 12 crore rupees. It is also learnt that Mayank Agarwal will be the new captain of the Punjab Kings in the upcoming season.
KKR were not ready to let go of Andre Russell and retained him for a very reasonable amount of 12 crore rupees. Mumbai Indians retain Jasprit Bumrah for a paltry amount of 12 crore rupees which is a steal by all means and RCB retain Glenn Maxwell who was magnificent in IPL 2021 for 11 crore rupees.
