Hardik Pandya returns; named in Baroda squad

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has returned to competitive cricket and will most probably feature in Borada’s Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai. The India cricketer is recovering from an injury and he has been named in Borada’s squad.

Baroda include Pandya in the team for match against Mumbai 

The news of Hardik’s inclusion in Baroda’s squad was announced by Snehal Parikh, the secretary-in-charge of the Baroda Cricket Association.

Borada has decided to field a full-strength squad for the important game against Mumbai. Along with Hardik, the squad also includes aggressive batsman Yusuf Pathan.

Baroda are currently at number six position in the Ranji Trophy. The team has played five games so far and have won and lost one game each while the remaining three games resulted in a draw.

Pandya crucial member of India’s squad

The all-rounder is a crucial member of India’s teams for all formats courtesy of his ability to bat in the middle-order and bowl effective medium-pace.

Although he wasn’t highly impressive in India’s tours of South Africa and England, he was backed by the team management as he brought the much-needed balance in the team.

India coach Ravi Shastri had admitted that the one player who they will certainly miss in the squad is Hardik Pandya who is sidelined due to an injury.

Shastri had explained that Pandya lends balance to the side because of his ability to operate as a bowler as well as a batsman which allows them to play an extra bowler.

The Indian had explained that they will be forced to think twice with regard to team selection as a result of his absence and he hoped for his quick recovery.

Pandya to play competitive cricket after September

The Indian all-rounder was injured during the Asia Cup in September. Since then he has spent considerable time in recovery and now with the game against Mumbai, he will be making a comeback in competitive cricket.
