Half of my career is over, no point fretting over my Test record: Rohit Sharma

A chilled out flamboyant talent Rohit Sharma opened up about being axed by the selectors from India’s Test Team squad in an interview.  India’s limited over run-machine thinks there is no point to be upset about not getting selected for the national duty in one-off Test against Afghanistan. He said he wanted to enjoy the remaining days of the career.

“There’s a limited time you have as a player, and I have finished almost half of it. There’s no point in spending the remaining half thinking whether I’ll be picked or not. I am going forward with the theory of ‘whatever time I have to make it count,” said Rohit on his inconsistency in red ball cricket.

On being asked about his brilliance only in the white ball cricket, he said, “By no means. As a child, all I dreamt of was to play Test cricket, and that dream will never be over. Nobody can take away my game or what I think about the game.”

“I got into the national team when I was 20, and I made my Test debut when I was 26. I had an opportunity to make my first appearance in 2010, but I missed that (due to a freak injury while playing football at practice). After that, it made me realize that the more you want, your attitude changes. I have realized there’s time for everything,” he added.

Despite having impressive records in one-day-cricket, Rohit has a devastating history in the longer format of the game. The modern one-day great has scored just 1479 runs in 25 Tests at an average of 39.97 in Tests.
