The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is playing host to match no 63 of Tata IPL 2023 between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Titans are playing their last league game at home and after a defeat to MI in their previous outing, Hardik Pandya & Co are in search of a win. They have made quite a few changes for this game with one being the replacement of West Indies tall pacer Alzarri Jospeh with Sri Lankan white ball skipper Dasun Shanaka.

GT vs SRH: Why is Alzarri Joseph Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match?

In a shocking call, Gujarat Titans have decided to keep West Indian paceman Alzarri Joseph at bay for GT vs SRH Match being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat. GT have finally handed the cap to Sri Lankan white ball skipper Dasun Shanaka who has made his debut in this match. GT were forced to do this change as the in-form batter Vijay Shankar got injured in the nets and had to be replaced with an Indian bowler. This move made way for Dasun Shanaka as an extra batter who seems to be a like to like replacement for Shankar. Check what GT’s skipper Hardik Pandya said at the toss,

“Yeah, it is a special initiative to support cancer patients. This is just our way of showing our support. We have played really good cricket. The standing in the table doesn’t matter that much, you have to play good cricket. When we started, we knew it would be a tricky year for us. The players have put up their hands in tough situations and put their hands up. It is a fresh wicket, we would have liked to field as well. We have a couple of forced changes. Shankar got hit by a ball in the net yesterday, Sai comes in. Shanaka makes his debut and also Yash Dayal is back.”
