GT vs RR: Why is Jason Holder Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match?

After having won the toss and opting to bowl first, the Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson revealed that Jason Holder is not part of the RR playing 11 for today’s GT vs RR IPL 2023 match. This seems to be a tactical change as Rajasthan Royals have included their premier left-arm pacer Trent Boult in the side because he missed the last game against Chennai Super Kings due to injury. Incidentally, Holder ended up conceding a total of 37 runs in his three overs against Chennai Super Kings that included as many as 19 runs in the penultimate 19th over of the game. The senior West Indies all-rounder has not performed really well both with the ball or bat in this IPL 2023 season so far.

“We are looking to bowl. Boult is coming in place of Jason Holder. Padikkal is playing if he gets to bat, I am not sure. We’ll keep learning about it (impact sub). I’d like to score some runs today,” said Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson during the toss.
