GT Playing 11: Gujarat Titans started their IPL 2022 campaign with a thrilling victory over another new entrant in Lucknow Super Giants. They bowled really well to start but the wheels came off in the late overs mainly because of Hardik Pandya who decided to use him for fourth over in the game. Lets take a look at their team composition for the game against Delhi Capitals
GT vs DC: No availability issues for Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans are fortunate that none of their first choice players are not available for this game. They played with their first choice XI with all first choice four overseas options playing in the first game. It is expected that, they will be going in with the same team for this game against Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals.
Gujarat Titans decided to play Varun Aaron ahead of a solid spinner in R Sai Kishore, and it was due to the new ball swing that’s available throughout the tournament so far. It is an understandable move why teams prefer a pacer who can touch 140s and also can swing under these conditions rather than a finger spinner although, the finger spinner adds very good value in his department. Once the pitch starts to slow down during the 2nd half of the season, one can expect Gujarat Titans to play R Sai Kishore along with Rashid Khan.
Probable GT playing 11
- Matthew Wade
- Shubman Gill
- Vijay Shankar
- Abhinav Manohar
- Hardik Pandya
- David Miller
- Rahul Tewatia
- Rashid Khan
- Varun Aaron
- Mohammad Shami
- Lockie Ferguson
Gujarat Titans can consider playing Shubman Gill in the middle order and play Wriddhiman Saha as an opener in place of Vijay Shankar. The presence of Shubman Gill in the middle order helps them to maintain the tempo against the spinners as Shubman Gill is an excellent player of spin bowling. GT struggled to score quickly in middle overs against spinners versus LSG as Shubman Gill got out early in the in innings in PP.
