However, it was Mohammed Shami who was the absolute star with the ball taking stunning figures of 4 for 11 from his quota of four overs. Thus, Mohammed Shami was named the Man of the Match award winner in today’s GT vs DC match.
After opting to bat first, things went massively downtown for the Delhi Capitals as they ended up losing as many as five wickets in the first six overs of the powerplay with only 28 runs on the scoreboard. For the Gujarat Titans, senior pacer Mohammed Shami bowled a sensational spell where he picked up as many as four important wickets. The Delhi Capitals eventually ended with a below-par total of 130 for 8 courtesy a fine half-century from Aman Khan who scored 51 runs off 44 balls.
The Gujarat Titans also did not had the best of starts in the run-chase as they lost three big wickets of Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha and Vijay Shankar inside the first five overs. GT captain Hardik Pandya led his side from the front with an unbeaten half-century but he struggled quite a bit to rotate the strike in the middle-overs. Towards the end, Rahul Tewatia did smash three back-to-back sixes in 19th over but eventually failed to take his team over the line as DC’s senior pacer Ishant Sharma bowled a remarkable 20th over where he successfully defended 12 runs.
