Twitterati’s not too impressed with Gambhir’s comment
There’s no doubt Gautam Gambhir is known for his uncharacteristic comments and being straight-forward, however, some Twitterati’s weren’t impressed with what Gambhir came up.
Here are a few tweets;
True. But they never said this shot won us the worldcup. They are only saying this shot took Indians into jubilation. Relax kijiye cricket ke Advaniji.

India created history on this day in 2011
The debate of who’s knock between Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni in the World Cup 2011 final will continue. But, not to forget, that India lifted the coveted cup in the year 2011 on this very date i.e. 2nd April.
Talking about that iconic match, Kumar Sangakkara the then Sri Lankan skipper won the toss and opted to bat on a sticky Wankhede surface. Riding on Mahela Jayawardene’s magnificent unbeaten 103 off 88 deliveries, Sri Lanka managed a challenging score of 274.
Chasing in a high-pressure game is always a daunting task especially in front of the home crowd. India had a rough start as they lost both openers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar inside 7 overs. But what came next was nothing short of a miracle.
Gautam Gambhir walked into the middle and architect his innings beautifully scoring 97 off 122, but unfortunately missed on a well-deserved ton. He couldn’t take India across the finishing line, but skipper MS Dhoni with an unbeaten 91 ensured India had their hands on the coveted cup for the second time in history.
