BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has been in the limelight ever since he has been elected for the post. He has proposed several changes and has been successful so far in his short stint. Ganguly has never shied away from giving his opinion on cricket, but it seems the BCCI boss had a quick getaway answer prepared when asked about MS Dhoni’s future in International cricket.
Sourav Ganguly stays muted on the Dhoni snub
Recently, when the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the list of contracted players for the upcoming year, surprisingly, for the first time since his arrival in the international cricket, MS Dhoni didn’t make the list. When asked about this and the veteran’s comeback, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said, “I can’t comment on this” during a public appearance. Ganguly had previously been very supportive of Dhoni’s return into the side but his statement after the contract snub incident has only raised a few more questions over the former skipper’s international future.
MS Dhoni hasn’t played a single match for India since the World Cup semi final against New Zealand last year. Since then, Dhoni has made himself unavailable for selection in the side. Series after series, Dhoni’s unavailability in the squad and his silence over the matter has made his fans raise several questions.
Surprised to see Dhoni middling every ball in nets, says Jharkhand coach
Right after the contract snub, MS Dhoni was seen practising with the Jharkhand Ranji team in his hometown of Ranchi. Jharkhand coach Rajiv Kumar later revealed that he was surprised to see the 38-year old middling almost every ball in the practice. This was Dhoni’s first session after a very long time. There is confirmation that Dhoni will continue to take part in the Indian Premier League but his international future seems uncertain at this moment. India head coach Ravi Shastri had clearly said that a strong IPL performance can make Dhoni a part of scheme of things going into the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.
