Former Pakistani captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has made the headlines again and the reason won’t really impress his fans. The wicket-keeper batsman from Karachi suffered a heavy backlash from social media for his words in the viral video.
What Sarfaraz said in the video
A video has gone viral which shows Sarfaraz Ahmed with two of his Pakistani teammates. In the video, which has been uploaded by Shehzar Mohammad on his Instagram, Sarfaraz Ahmed can be heard saying “we are looking Gora bro”.

The eight seconds clip show Shehzar Mohammad asks Sarfaraz Ahmed for an appearance on his video. At the end of the video, he has been heard saying the above words very casually. The video also had glimpses of Asad Shafiq in the back. The video was probably shot at the gym in Karachi.
How did the fans on Twitter react
The comment though didn’t go down very well with people on Twitter and Sarfaraz Ahmed was trolled for saying that. Some fans believed that the comment was racist, considering the stature of the person he is.

Sarfaraz’s history with racist comments
Earlier in 2019, Sarfaraz Ahmed was suspended from playing four matches by ICC after he passed a racist sledge to Andile Phehlukwayo during an ODI in Durban. The South African all-rounder didn’t understand a word but the words were caught on the stump mic, leading to the suspension of the player.
Sarfaraz Ahmed to Andile Phehlukwayo:
"abbay kaale teri Ami kahan bethi hoyi hain aaj, kya parhwa kay aya hai aaj"
"black man wheres your mother sat? What have you asked your mother to pray for you today?"#SAvPAK pic.twitter.com/vw6yuE73OE

Sarfaraz was heard saying, ” AbeyKaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baithee hain? Kya parwake aaye hai aaj?” which literally means “Hey black guy, where’s your mother sitting today? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?”
This morning I apologised to Andile Phehlukwayo and he was gracious enough to accept my apology .and I hope the people of South Africa also accept my apology. pic.twitter.com/bco00dGumR

Sarfaraz’s struggle continues to get back into the squad
Ahmed, who was then the Pakistan captain was severely criticized for his actions. Recently before Pakistan’s tour of Australia, Sarfaraz Ahmed was sacked from captaincy and dropped from all the formats. He has been training very hard to find a place in the squad. Amidst all this, Sarfaraz Ahmed has always in news. The video which appeared on Shehar Mohammad’s Instagram isn’t there now but did get some attention. Shehar is the grandson of the legendary Pakistan batsman, Hanif Mohammad and is the son of Shoaib Mohammad, another former Pakistan International cricketer.
