It has been a long time since India or Pakistan toured each other for a bilateral series in any format of the game. It was way back in the year 2012 when Pakistan toured India for 3-ODIs and 2-T20Is but since then, the two sides have squared against each other in ICC events or the Asia Cup.

Giving light to this matter, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi feels now is the right time for India to tour Pakistan for a bilateral series. He feels putting all the tensions aside between the two nations, the cricketing ties should be continued.

Shahid Afridi has urged that the security concerns in the country have improved

The former all-rounder feels that the security concerns in the country which was one of the major reasons for countries not touring Pakistan have immensely improved.

“The whole of PSL being held in Pakistan is a good message for all countries, as also Bangladesh touring and playing even Test cricket, shows that our security situation is good. I am waiting for India to come to Pakistan and play a series.” Afridi said as quoted by India Today.

He wants both Pakistan and India to play in the Asia Cup

The Asia Cup conundrum is far from getting solved as BCCI is not in any mood to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. However, Afridi wants that the Asia Cup should be held with both India and Pakistan playing in it.

“The Asia Cup should be held with both India and Pakistan in it. It’s time Pakistan and India sat together and sorted out their problems without involving any third country. They have many issues and once they sit together, it can be sorted but Asia Cup held anywhere should have India and Pakistan playing in the event,” Shahid Afridi added.

The Asia Cup will be a good build-up for the T20 World Cup

The Asia Cup which is slated for September will be a good build-up for the T20 World Cup which is scheduled to take place in Australia in October.

With India backing to go Pakistan who is hosting this edition of the Asia Cup, it remains interesting to see what would be the final call of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
