Despite being an ODI great, Rohit Sharma deserves to be in the Test Team, and there are several listed reasons. Rohit Sharma has been proving himself day-in-day-out in the ODIs and has been a permanent member of the white ball team.
The answer to the Lackluster opening combination
We have seen our Test team’s opening combination, and they haven’t proved their mettle as an Indian opener in England yet while having Rohit and Shikhar together in ODI, sets a different kind of pressure on the opponents. They both (Rohit and Dhawan) looks quite comfortable with each other on the field which is right now lacking in our Test squad. Precisely, India badly needs to solve Murali Vijay’s story that is horribly out of touch these days. Getting Rohit for opening the match will end the confusion in the top order and the batting line-up.
The Big match Player who scored daddy hundreds
Undoubtedly, he is a match winner, and he proved it in ODIs. Rohit has scored 17 ODI hundreds out of which five times he crossed the mark of 150 which showed that he knew how to keep his wicket after scoring a century. He didn’t throw it, but make it a big one. In cricketing history, Sachin Tendulkar and David Warner have scored five times 150+ runs.
He brings the X Factor
Rohit brings the X-factor in the team which brings down the opponents confidence in them because you never he can score in any condition whether favourable or not. Rohit’s presence is equalled to the pressure on the opponents. Whether he is good at Red ball or not but having him in the dressing room will make the opponent uncomfortable.
Legends and greats believe in him
Several Cricketing legends has questioned his presence in the Test squad whether he was picked up for the same but know those are asking for him. Despite the failure in Test, Once Yuvraj Singh said, If a talent like Rohit Sharma doesn’t score 10,000 Test runs or didn’t get the chance to do so then he would be a waste of talent. Sachin Tendulkar backed him several times and wished to see him playing Red-ball cricket.
Obviously, three double centuries!
Rohit’s three double centuries summed it up that he should have taken into the team. Till the date, only seven double centuries have been scored in One day cricket, and Rohit Sharma has scored 3 out of it. The remaining ones were scored by Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle.
And the Rest is history!
