Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey’s name in the list of cricketers who should have had a long career seems surprising but it’s the harsh reality. Almost every Indian fan knows about the ability, the right-handed batsman from Karnataka possesses. However, someone manages to find himself out of the Indian side which he shouldn’t as everyone wants him to be a regular feature on the national side. When he scored a century in his debut ODI series against Australia, it seemed that Team India has finally founded its no.4 batsman but it was only a matter of few months as his performance started to dip and paved the way for other youngsters on the side.

Time and time again he got chances to prove his mettle, it wasn’t like as if he failed but his performances were not up to the batsman of his stature. He recently got a chance in the white-ball leg against Sri Lanka and everyone expected him to set the stage on fire but he failed drastically and it almost seemed like fans won’t get to witness him again in national colours. Though he hasn’t got any opportunity in the longest format of the game his first-class record of over 6389 runs along 19 centuries at an average of 51.11 depicts his calibre as a batsman and calls out for an opportunity but with seniors players already being there and the emergence of young talented players, Karnataka skipper is unlikely to get a chance in Indian side and hence he’s in our list of player who should have had a longer career.
