Any team would like to spend a fortune for a top order batsmen who is giving returns at a consistent basis. Ruturaj Gaikwad is one such player and the numbers speak for themselves as far as the most competitive league in IPL is concerned. One of the primary criteria for an opening batsmen is to ensure that he makes sure that a solid base is being laid for the middle order batsmen to take advantage of. This is exactly what Ruturaj Gaikwad has been doing ever since he made his IPL debut in 2020.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was one of the four players to be retained by the four time champions in CSK ahead of the mega auction earlier this year. It was a straightforward choice for them after a stellar season by the opener in 2021 where CSK were extreme dominant throughout the tournament. He scored 635 runs in 16 games in 2021, also won the orange cap overtaking Faf du Plessis and the ever consistent KL Rahul.
The range of shots he showcased and the ease with which he destroyed spinners in the middle overs made him one of the most eye catching batsmen in the season. He is no mug against Pacers either, the way he toyed with the quickest bowler in the competition in Umran Malik, in yesterday’s game against SRH is testimony to his pace game.
He scored 99 runs in the do or die game against SRH, and in the process became the joint quickest Indian batsman to 1000 runs in IPL history. It was an innings for a lifetime, against one of the strongest bowling attacks in this season so far. He paced his innings brilliantly and targeted the right bowlers throughout the innings.
