Faf-Catch

Faf du Plessis catch: The greatest cricket carnival on earth has just started. The Indian Premier League got underway with the mouth-watering clash between the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. It was Chennai who won the toss and elected to bowl first on a belter of a wicket. Mumbai got off to a great start but collapsed in the second half of the innings courtesy of some extra-ordinary fielding effort from the South African veteran Faf du Plesis.

Faf takes two stunning catches

Mumbai who was put in to bat first by the CSK got off to a great start. Openers Quinton De Kock and Rohit Sharma took on Lungi Ngidi and Deepak Chahar quite early in the innings to shift the momentum in favour of the defending champions. Since their departure, the surprise entrant in the line-up Sourab Tiwary took matters into his hand and started the carnage. He scored 42 of 31 balls. And right when he was looking to make it big, he was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja courtesy of an outstanding fielding effort by Faf du Plesis in the outfield. It was quickly followed by Hardik Pandya’s wicket that too courtesy of Faf’s incredible catching. For Tiwary’s wicket, Faf had to catch and throw the ball back inside the boundary rope. Whereas Hardik’s catch was a tad simpler as he was comfortably inside the boundary, but still had to jump quite a lot to get hold of the ball.

This outstanding two catches from Faf shocked most of the fans. Some of the netizens even started to compare it with ABD’s superman catch from last year’s IPL.

Mumbai collapses in the second half

Mumbai batting collapsed in the second half of the innings, after the fall of Sourab Tiwary’s dismissal. Apart from Tiwary, Hardik entertained for a short period of time with two monstrous sixes. But his stay was cut short with an incredible catch from Faf du Plesis. None of the batsmen who came after that was able to stay for longer and hence Mumbai were forced to end their innings on 162-9 despite getting off to a flyer in the powerplay.
