Krunal Pandya was selected in the team for the T2oI series against England earlier this year, though he did not get a chance to play. According to the all-rounder, this made him covet the chance to play for India in the World Cup. Krunal’s brother Hardik has already made 41 appearances for India in ODIs.
Krunal had earlier told the Mumbai Indians website, the IPL franchise he plays for, that his ultimate goal was to represent his country in the Cricket World Cup. He also stated that he was playing consistently, focusing on each match and tournament.
He was truly excited when he received his maiden call-up, especially because he was going to be there with his sibling Hardik. He declared that it is a great feeling to play together with his brother Hardik for the Indian team. They play together for Mumbai Indians too but playing together for India means more to both.
Krunal said that playing together for India was like a childhood dream come true. He said that he dreamt of playing for the country from a young age but when he actually received the call, it was great.
He was mostly featured in the IPL (Indian Premier League)after he was purchased for an astonishing sum of 2 crore rupees. He played for the Mumbai Indians and in his first match was able to get one wicket and 20 runs. For a start, one could call this average. In a later match against Delhi Daredevils, he was able to make 86 runs off 37 balls. He was also able to take two wickets and was declared the Man of the Match.
His performance throughout the IPL was always consistent whether it be with the bat or the ball. He was bought once again by the Mumbai Indians during the 2018 IPL auctions.
