ENG vs NZ: After the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the focus now shifts to the upcoming international cricket action as England is ready to host New Zealand for a two-match Test series starting with the first Test from June 2 at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground. The upcoming two-match Test series in England will be a perfect dress rehearsal for New Zealand before the all-important World Test Championship (WTC) final against India scheduled to start from June 18 in Southampton. Both England and New Zealand have named their respective squads for the two Test matches.
ENG vs NZ squads announced
The host England team has suffered a major blow with their premier speedster Jofra Archer already ruled out of the New Zealand Tests as he complained of pain on his right elbow recently during the County Championship fixture. However, England have named a 15-member squad with the IPL players like Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes having rested. The Joe Root-led England Test squad features some new names like James Bracey and Ollie Robinson after the duo’s brilliant performances at the County circuit. Wicket-keeper batsman Ben Foakes will be playing his first home Test for England against New Zealand on 2nd June.
