Sam Curran, Surrey left-arm seamer has retained his position in a 12-member squad for the third Test while Anderson, as earlier reports of his calf injury erupted, was not able to play at Lord’s. However, fast bowler Jofra Archer did take five wickets in his debut Test match in Anderson’s place.
Anderson will further continue his rehabilitation this week by playing for Lancashire XI against Leicestershire in a three-day friendly match starting on Tuesday in Liverpool but he is expected to return in full form in the team later in the series.
Anderson will be assessed on the basis of ongoing matches ahead of his selection for the fourth Test at Old Trafford which is also Anderson’s home ground- starting on Wednesday, 4th September 2019.
