England’s latest ODI debutant the leg-spinner Matthew Parkinson is facing the heat of the Twitterati’s for his old comments on the current and former Indian skippers Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.
Parkinson is relatively new to the game and he recently made his ODI against the Proteas in the first ODI of the three-match series. He had a nightmare of a game with the ball but has certainly made headlines with this act of indiscipline.
Matt Parkinson faces heat for his old tweets on Kohli and Dhoni
Even before getting a good taste at the International arena, he has landed himself into spine bushes courtesy some of his old tweets regarding Kohli, Dhoni and Jadeja.
These inappropriate tweets were posted by him back in the year 2014, when he was a relatively new face in the English domestic circuit. His level of mocking the Indian legend was at peak as he termed both Kohli and Dhoni as ‘disgrace’ in one of his tweets.
He also didn’t spare all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and took a jibe on him for scoring three triple centuries in the Indian domestic circuit. Here’s the tweet;
However, soon after these tweets resurfaced he was quick to remove them from his account but it was definitely too late as he was thrashed by the Twitterati’s already.
Talking about his ODI debut, he was given a nod ahead of the well established Aadil Rashid. However, he didn’t have a debut to remember as he gave away 48 runs from 8.4 overs and wasn’t able to pick a single wicket.
After a disappointing start, it is highly unlikely for him to get into the eleven for the second game and get a nod ahead of Aadil Rashid and Moeen Ali two times in a row.
