Andre Russell available for ENG vs WI game: The Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is all set to kickstart later in the day. In the second match of the exciting double-header day of the tournament, defending champions West Indies will be locking horns with last time’s runners-up England at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Andre Russell Available for West Indies T20 WC 2021 Opener?
West Indies’ big-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell injured his hamstring during the league stage game of the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season against Chennai Super Kings. He also missed the last few playoff games for Kolkata Knight Riders who eventually finished as the runners-up. However, Russell is yet to gain complete fitness and the West Indies team management will take the final call on his selection just before the T20 WC opening clash against England on Saturday. The all-rounder contributed both with the bat and ball in the second warm-up match for West Indies against Afghanistan.
“He (Russell) played in that warm-up game a couple days ago, and it was just like a trial for him because he hadn’t played a cricket match in about three weeks, three to four weeks. Let’s see what transpires in this last (training) session,” said Windies captain Kieron Pollard.

ENG vs WI: West Indies Likely Playing 11
West Indies did not had the best of starts in this ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as they suffered convincing losses in both of their warm-up matches against Pakistan and Afghanistan. The duo of Evin Lewis and Lendl Simmons are likely to open the batting for West Indies against England. The likes of Chris Gayle, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Kieron Pollard and Nicholas Pooran will bat in the middle-order. The trio of Dwayne Bravo, Obey McCoy and Hayden will have to play a significant role with the ball.
