ENG vs IND: Team India has faced a lot of criticism since their loss to New Zealand in the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final. There have been a lot of talks about India not getting adequate amount of practice and game-time in the English conditions before the important WTC final and even captain Virat Kohli stressed on the issue. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is currently mulling over the matter of organizing a warm-up match for India ahead of the five-match Test series against England.
ENG vs IND: India to Play a Warm-up Match
The first England vs India Test match is scheduled to start from 4 August in Nottingham. However, on receiving a special request from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), ECB is now trying to make some last minute changes to their cricket summer schedule. It is being understood that ECB will be making changes in their summer tour itinerary in order to ensure that India can play a four-day warm-up match before the five-match Test series. In addition, Team India might also get a three-day practice fixture against an English county side.
“We are working through the operations and COVID-19 protocols to ensure we are able to deliver this and will confirm in due course. The Indian Test team will report to Emirates Riverside, Durham for their pre-Test camp on July 15 and will prepare at the venue until August 1 before heading to Trent Bridge, Nottingham ahead of the first Test starting on August 4,” said an ECB spokesperson as quoted by the Dailymail.
“That doesn’t depend on us. We obviously wanted First-Class games which I believe has not been given to us. I don’t know what the reasons for that are,” Virat Kohli had said after India’s loss in the WTC final.
