India would have expected a better start to their first home game in more than a year as England openers have made Indian bowlers to work hard for the 2 wickets in the 1st session of the 1st test here in Chepauk.

England have started their long tour to India with the longest format of the game. This marks the return of cricket to India post pandemic. England captain Joe Root won the toss on what looked like a good batting wicket and had no hesitation in batting first.

Both Rory Burns and Dom Sibley kept the scoreboard moving at a slow but steady pace and stitched a decent 50 run stand between them. England were motoring along nicely until a poor shot by Rory Burns.
Indian bowlers’s late resurgence makes it an even session
This India vs England test series is considered as one of the best series because of the sheer quality of both these teams and their ability to bounce back from tricky situations. At one stage, it looked like England might end the session without losing a wicket but Rory Burns tried to play a fancy reverse sweep off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin that took the top edge and Rishabh Pant completed an easy catch.
Dan Lawrence, England’s #3 batsman didn’t last long as he was undone by a in-dipper by Jasprit Bumrah who was trapped plumb in front. In the end, England end the session with 67 runs on the board for the loss of just 2 wickets. Dom Sibley and the in form Joe Root are at the crease.
