Rohit Sharma ENG vs IND Test: After a massive COVID-19 outbreak last year, Team India is all set to resume their five-match Test series against England with the fifth and final Test match beginning from 1 July, 2022 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. The visitors have a lead of 2-1 in the five-match Test series after having registered sensational wins at the Lord’s and Oval. India is also scheduled to play 3 T20Is and as many ODI matches against England.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have finally confirmed that captain Rohit Sharma has not yet recovered from Covid-19 and will not be available for selection during the 5th Test match against England. BCCI further added that right-arm pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will captain the Indian Test team while wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will be his deputy. However, there is still no clear update as to who will open the batting for India alongside Shubman Gill against England.

Mayank Agarwal was added to the India Test squad after Rohit tested positive for Covid-19 while the team management are also considering to play Cheteshwar Pujara as the second opener. There are chances that both Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas Iyer will get a spot in the India playing 11.
