In a massive breaking news development, hosts England have announced their final playing 11 for the opening Test match of the Ashes 2023 against Australia scheduled to begin from 16 June, 2023 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. The Ben Stokes-led England Test team that is currently experiencing a sensational form in the longest format, looks very much ready for the exciting Ashes 2023 battle against arch-rivals Australia. Incidentally, England is yet to lose a single Ashes Test series against Australia at home in the last 22 years.

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have named their confirmed playing XI for the first Ashes 2023 Test match against Australia starting from Friday. The pace duo of Matthew Potts and Josh Tongue have been dropped from the England Test side that recently played a one-off Test match against Ireland at the Lord’s. On the other hand, senior off-spinner Moeen Ali has also come out of retirement and was recently added to the England Test squad after left-arm spinner Jack Leach sustained a low back stress fracture that ruled him out of the five-match Test series. As expected, Moeen is straightaway back in the playing 11 and will be playing his first Test match for England since September 2021.
England’s veteran pacer James Anderson also makes a comeback after missing the one-off Test against Ireland and he will be teaming up with Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson to form the pace bowling attack. The hosts have gone ahead with the same batting line-up that played against Ireland recently.
