The visiting Australian team are not playing young off-spinner Todd Murphy for the fourth Test match of the Ashes 2023 against England being played at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. Australia will be looking forward to make a comeback especially after their disappointing 3-wicket defeat against England in the third Test match. The Pat Cummins-led team are currently having a lead of 2-1 in the five-match Ashes 2023 Test series.
ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023: Why is Todd Murphy Not Playing England vs Australia 4th Test?
Australia announced their playing 11 on the eve of the game and Todd Murphy was left out for the ENG vs AUS 4th Test Ashes 2023. Murphy was not utilised very well by the Aussie team in the third Test match against England as he bowled just 7.3 overs in the first innings having picked up a single wicket and went on to bowl only a couple of overs in the fourth as the majority workload was shared by the fast bowlers. Since making his Test debut earlier this year in India, the 22-year-old off-spinner has picked up as many as15 wickets from 5 Test matches including a five-wicket haul. However, Australia have decided to go ahead with an all-pace bowling attack with as many as five pacers in Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh.
The trio of Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith will be providing the part-time spin options at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.
