Interestingly, England have once again dropped premier fast bowler Ollie Robinson for the fifth and final Ashes 2023 Test match against Australia scheduled to be played from 27 July, 2023 at the Kennington Oval in London. England definitely be feeling a bit of low on confidence as they were surely ahead for most of the Manchester Test match which eventually ended in a draw due to rain intervention especially on Day 5. The hosts now have a chance to level the five-match Test series as Australia have already retained the Ashes ‘Urn’.
Why is Ollie Robinson Not Playing England vs Australia 5th Test?
England have named playing 11 for ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023 5th Test match starting from Thursday and right-arm pace bowler Ollie Robinson will continue to sit out. After suffering with back spasm in the third Test against Australia, Robinson was not available for selection in the fourth Test match. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have not yet provided any fitness update on the seamer ahead of the fifth game. The 29-year-old fast bowler has taken 10 wickets in just 3 Test matches, maintaining an average of 28.40. While playing in 19 Tests, he has picked up a total of 76 wickets at an average of 22.21.
On the other hand, England team management have decided to go ahead with the massive experience of veteran pacer James Anderson in the 5th Test match. However, Anderson has picked only 4 wickets from 3 Test matches at a poor average of more than 76.
