In a crucial news update, the visiting Australian team have dropped their premier pacer Josh Hazlewood for the third Ashes 2023 Test match against England scheduled to be taking place at the Headingley in Leeds. After being crowned as the winners of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023, Australia have looked in a sensational form in the Ashes 2023 so far having won the first Test match in a thrilling fashion and then beating the home side at the Lord’s by 43 runs. Australia currently have a lead of 2-0 in the five-match Test series.
ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023: Why is Josh Hazlewood Not Playing England vs Australia 3rd Test?
After having lost his third toss in a row and being asked to bat first, Australia captain Pat Cummins revealed that right-arm pacer Josh Hazlewood misses out from Australia playing 11 for the ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023 3rd Test match. This looks really surprising as Scott Boland is back in the side after missing the second Test. Hazlewood ended up taking as many as 5 wickets in the Lord’s Test match that included the prized scalp of England captain Ben Stokes in the fourth innings. He has picked up a total of 8 wickets from 2 Test matches at an average of 32.50. However, Australia are managing the workload of their fast bowlers which is why Boland makes a comeback into the AUS playing XI.
“We would have had a bowl as well but it’s not a big deal. Cam Green has a slight strain so Mitch Marsh comes in for his first Test in a while. Three changes for us. He is playing his 5th Test and he was a star for us in India he is pumped [on Todd Murphy]. He is huge, just the standard he has set, averaging almost 60, hopefully it will be a special week for us. Would not expect anything less coming here [on the hostile reception expected here]. The last time was a fantastic Test here in 2019 and the first two have been pretty good. Expecting the same here,” said Australia captain Pat Cummins during the toss.
