Former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar feels that the decision to drop Yuzvendra Chahal for the fourth ODI wasn’t a wise one as the leg-spinner is one of India’s top performers in the recent times. Agarkar also stated that the inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja is an interesting move.

Agarkar feels Chahal should have been in the playing XI

For the fourth ODI, India roped in Ravindra Jadeja in the place of Yuzvendra Chahal. However, Agarkar wasn’t impressed with this move and he said that India is suddenly leaving out one of their top performers over the last couple of years. He also noted that Chahal has replaced Ravi Ashwin and Jadeja in the team who have been so good for India.

He felt that India left a wicket taker out to try and balance the team. The former India cricketer said that he understands that Kohli wants to have a little bit of more batting at number seven so he has Jadeja in the team but he believes that Chahal is been one of India’s main bowlers.

Jadeja not a front-line bowler on good pitches: Agarkar

The former right-arm pacer explained that on a good pitch sometimes Jadeja is not a frontline fifth bowler in one day cricket. He also added that on this ground where defending a total is difficult, India is playing without one of their main bowlers.

However, the inclusion of the left-arm spinner didn’t affect India in the fourth ODI. In fact, with the bat, Jadeja scored seven handy runs in the death overs in just four balls and then gave away just 39 runs in his ten overs. He also accounted for the wicket of Windies batsman Keemo Paul.

India now leads this ODI series 2-1 and the fifth ODI between India and Windies will be played on 01st November.
