As Afghanistan brace to take on India for their maiden test match on Thursday in Bangalore, India wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik has praised Afghanistan’s rise to international cricket.
“It has been beautiful, isn’t it?” said Karthik looking forward to the honour of playing against Afghanistan in their maiden outing in Test whites.
Moreover, talking about his comeback in Test cricket after eight years, Karthik said that he didn’t regret losing his Test spot to Dhoni and admitted that perhaps he wasn’t playing that well.

“I have always dreamt of being part of the Test team. I think I was consistent enough. Dhoni was breathing down my neck and he went on to become one of the greatest Test captains India has produced. So, I have not lost my place to a normal cricketer,” he said.
Karthik is hopeful that he can perform well backing on his experience in domestic cricket.
“One can easily fade away, but to play for Tamil Nadu and to keep competing in Ranji was a challenge for me. This is another opportunity for me to give my best and showcase my skills,” Karthik said ahead of India’s net session on Tuesday.
As Saha is recovering from a thumb injury, an impressive performance here can propel Karthik close to selection for the England tour.
