Depressed Sarah Taylor to back out from Women’s World T20 2018

The 29-year-old England women team’s world-class batswomen Sarah Taylor has taken a break from Women’s World T20 due to anxiety issues. Sarah is facing depression since 2013 when it (Depressive condition) hit her in Brighton.  This is not the first time when she has taken such a decision to pause his international career; previously, she announced an ‘indefinite break’ from cricket in 2016 for the first time when she was dealing with the same issues. Later on, Sarah recovered from the bad phase and came back in 2017 for the limited over world cup.

England coach Mark Robinson announced the unavailability of Sarah Taylor from the squad, “Since the end of the summer, from a psychological point of view, Sarah is unable to train fully with the squad. She isn’t in a zone where we would all be comfortable that the demanding training, playing and travel schedule wouldn’t potentially put her backward and make her road to full recovery longer.”

In an interview with a renowned media house in 2017, Sarah explained the issues she was facing during her bad phase. “It was difficult to breathe” added Sarah during her interview.

She said England Woman’s team coach Mark Robinson made it easier for her to come and go back whenever she wants. He was a true support for Sarah during the depression and right now once again Mark is backing the miraculous wicket-keeper batswoman of the current generation.
The selection committee has named three uncapped players into the squad to support the order and the place of wicketkeeper in Sarah’s absence. Sophia Dunkley, a 20-year-old batswoman is called to take Sarah’s place in the top order while Amy Jones is considered to replace Sarah at the wicket-keeping end.
