DC vs RCB IPL 2019 report: Delhi seal play-off berth; RCB knocked out

Delhi Capitals continued their impressive show in IPL 2019 by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs. This win has also sealed a play-off berth for DC and have taken them to the top of the points table while RCB are now out of contention for the play-offs.
Dhawan-Iyer keep Delhi solid
Delhi Capitals’ innings was once again shaped by Shikhar Dhawan who scored an impressive half-century scoring 50 off 37 balls. Skipper Shreyas Iyer gave him able support by hammering 52 off 0ff 37 balls. The duo added 68 runs for the second wicket.

Axar- Rutherford revive Delhi after middle order collapseÂ
However both of them fell to the spinners in the middle overs and then RCB triggered a batting collapse with Rishabh Pant trapped in front of the wicket against Yuzvendra Chahal and Colin Ingram being dismissed by Saini.
But Axar Patel and Sherfane Rutherford put Delhi back on track by scoring 46 runs in the last 3.1 overs. Axar remained unbeaten on 16 off 9 balls while Rutherford slammed 28 off 13 balls.

RCB fell short of Delhi’s total
In reply, RCB got off to a flying start with Parthiv Patel blasting off 39 off 20 balls. The opening pair of Patel and Virat Kohli scored 63 runs for the first wicket inside six overs but Rabada removed Patel in the sixth over and one over later Kohli was caught on the boundary while pulling Axar Patel.
AB de Villiers struggled to score quickly as Amit Mishra tightened the noose in the middle overs and removed Henry Klassen and Shivam Dube in the same over. Rutherford picked ABD to push RCB further back in the chase and RCB had a slump in the middle overs.

Gurkeerat Singh scored 27 off 19 balls and Marcus Stoinis made 32 off 24 balls but RCB failed to cross the line against some disciplined bowling by Delhi in the death overs.
