The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have dropped overseas batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa for their 12th encounter of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season against the Delhi Capitals (DC) taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It will be really important for the Punjab Kings to make a fightback in this game especially after having suffered back-to-back losses at the hands of Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous two games of this IPL 2023.
DC vs PBKS IPL 2023: Why is Bhanuka Rajapaksa Not Playing Today’s Match IPL?
After having lost the toss and being asked to bat first, the Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan mentioned that Bhanuka Rajapaksa in not part of the PBKS playing 11 for this DC vs PBKS match on Saturday. Incidentally, he is not even part of the substitutes list that means PBKS team management has dropped the Sri Lankan batsman. While making his comeback into the side during the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajapaksa was dismissed for a 3-ball duck. The southpaw batsman has managed to score just 71 runs in IPL 2023 from 4 games at a poor strike-rate of less than 115 that includes only a single half-century.
“We would have bowled too but we are batting first, so looking forward to it. It is beautiful that they are putting up good performances. They are maturing and those are great signs. We have got one change – Raza comes back in and Rajapaksa misses out,” said Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan during the toss.
