Delhi Capitals had one of the best ever bowling attack for an IPL team in 2021. They had high end pace bowlers, all phase bowlers, two quality spinners who could turn the ball either ways, the only thing they missed was the variety of a left arm angle. It is so sad to see them mess up the mega auction and end up with a bowling attack as bad as they have for this season. Let’s take a look at the possible combinations for DC ahead of season opener.
DC vs MI, Match 2 of IPL 2022: Only 2 overseas players available
No Australian player is available for the Delhi Capitals at least till April 6, and that rules Mitchell Marsh and David Warner out.
Cricket Australia didn’t allow its players till the end of the white ball series against Pakistan in Pakistan.
As Anrich Nortje is still unfit, he wont be available for the first 2 games atleast as per the latest reports although he is training with the team at the moment.
Since the ODI series between South Africa and Bangladesh ended on 24th of March, Lungi Ngidi and Mustafizur Rahman are not available for DC’s first game against Mumbai Indians either.
This leaves with only Rovman Powell and Tim Seifert being the only overseas players available against Mumbai Indians.
They do have a plethora of Indian batsmen who could act as a replacement for David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, although may not be to the level of the Australians but certainly better than Tim Seifert. It would only be wise for DC to play with one overseas player in Rovman Powell for the first game.
